Philosophy

The St. Vincent de Paul Preschool strives to enhance the social, emotional, spiritual, physical, and creative skills of each child. We are dedicated to making these preschool years enjoyable and exciting so that each youngster will be prepared and eager to begin kindergarten.

Our Program

We offer a play-based, hands-on program that encourages children to learn through interaction, exploration, and experimentation. The curriculum is theme-based to promote basic learning skills through fun topics such as community helpers, farm life, and outer space. Our low student to teacher ratios allows teachers to individualize learning in order to meet the children where they are developmental. As we give witness to our Catholic faith, our primary religious focus is on helping children grow in their love and knowledge of God.

Curriculum

As the children play and interact, we focus on developing many skills through our curriculum, including:

Spiritual Growth - We instill our faith through daily prayer, bible stories and songs, chapel lessons, and the celebration of saints and holy days.

Social and Emotional Growth- Sharing toys, games, and physical space, as well as learning group rules, affords each youngster the opportunity to test and establish appropriate social and emotional behavior.

Cognitive Growth- Keeping in mind that children are preparing for Kindergarten, we provide opportunities to develop skills such as problem-solving, classifying, and observation through games, puzzles, science experiments, group activities, and other early reading, math, and writing activities.

Speech and Language Development- Through listening to books, learning fingerplays and songs, and role-playing and dress-up experiences, the children's vocabulary and language skills are broadened and enhanced.

Gross Motor Skills- Children are given opportunities to develop coordination and muscle strength through climbing, running, skipping, dancing, balancing, and other movement activities.

Fine Motor Skills- While playing with manipulatives, cutting, coloring, and writing, children's hand muscles and coordination skills are strengthened.

Creative Development- The building blocks, playdough, paints, and art materials within the classroom challenge children to use their imagination and endless creative abilities.
